Show and Tell 17 January 2024

 Welcome to 2024. Lets hope this year brings us much joy in our quilting and crafting.

Our first meeting back presented quite a few finished projects, so it seems the craziness of Christmas and New Year did not deter some of these productive sewers.

(Note the order of the photos is not the same as they were shown... this program jumbles the photos up!)

Sandy Hill showed a few items. She has been busy!

This first quilt is a scrappy quilt using 2.5 inch squares... 698 or there abouts. What an effort.

The result is a very striking quilt. Sandy's clever use of the white and black sashings really gives the eyes a chance to rest from the visual chaos of all those colourful 2 inch squares. This is quite an inspirational quilt for those looking to do a scrappy... and are happy to lose their mind with sewing 698 squares. Beautiful result Sandy. Well worth the insanity!!!

Sandy's 10 minute blocks which she says were really more like 5 minutes once you get going.

I'm not sure the pattern name, but it looks like bow ties on steroids! Lots of lovely swirly quilting to complement it.

Francene's elegant hexi basket using small doilies and lace pieces. This one did a lap of the room! 

Judy Collins with her sweet tiny rabbits in a farmhouse field quilt.

Another unique hexagonal item. Barb's stylish i-pad carry case. So simple but elegant. Just imagine the effect you could achieve with brights or blingy fabrics. This could really be tailored as a great gift for even male teenagers too as it is quite architectural.

Chris Adley with her very clever tea towel bag with pockets. The fabric is a a really sturdy linen.

Chris' upstyled bag. She moved the handle from the side to the top and added this cute little fellow made from fabric  "confetti"

A cheery scrappy stash buster quilt by Chris using all stripes and spots.

Note the decorative stitches using variegated thread in the sashings. Really interesting to offset the black sashings to give the quilt some movement.

This lovely heart quilt by Kerry was not actually a show and tell, so just in case it goes to it's owner before we can photograph it finished...  here it is being pinned. Very calming blues with a couple of pink highlighted hearts. I'm sure it will mean a lot to the lady who receives it.
