Just when we thought we were all finished with the Exhibition, at our regular meeting on Wednesday 1st October the Committee advised that during set up of the Exhibition, they were visited by members of the SA Quilters Judging Panel and two trainee Judges.
The judges spent a few hours going over all the quilts on display and gave their 'unofficial' results based on criteria that they would use in SA Quilters Exhibitions.
The committee kindly passed on the Judges results and even went to the trouble of printing up certificates.
Congratulations to the winners and place getters.
We were also very pleased to have a representative from the Eastern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service which is a part of the Womens Safety Services SA organisation, attend this meeting to receive a cheque for $6000 which was raised through the raffle and other donations
The EADVS Rep gave a small talk about what they do and how they provide a joyous, safe environment for women and children to regroup and move forward. She was so grateful for the generous amount, as donations make a very big portion of their funding. She outlined an area of practical support that our donation would be directed to which was well received by our members.
