Our August meeting was a quiet one with quite a few people away holidaying or on the sick (or injured) list!
We had a rousing Happy Birthday sing along for 4 ladies celebrating their birthdays this month including Els becoming an octogenarian. Happy 80th Els!! 🍰
Our Birthday girls Margaret, Bronwyn, Els and Jill.
Now to the fun stuff. Well OK the chocolate cake was pretty cool, but here are the finished quilts and craft items on show this monthGaile showed us a long time in the making beautiful and all hand sewn large double sided hexagon quilt. What a feast for the eyes this one is... both sides!!
The back of Gaile's quilt. Just love that bold purple border to complement all the batiks used here.
Now we have all heard rumours of quilts and other craft projects not going quite to plan. Like when the instructions are pretty simple and all you have to do is sew a straight line and it comes out rather more like a wonky line.....
This is Chris Adley's version of attempting to sew a straight line that ended up a bit wonky!
A Wonky rope basket!
Well, at least Chris is able to smile about it!!😉
Margaret with her very large and simply stunning log cabin for her son's 50th birthday. This quilt was put together with quality fabrics and it shows both in it's visual appeal and weight. This is one big and heavy quilt!
There are a lot of different fabrics in this very large quilt.
