Show & Tell 17 July 2024

 

Our July meeting also included a very pleasant Christmas in July lunch where we were joined by a few Piccadilly Quilters.

We also had a visit from Lyn of Quilters Quarters with a fantastic array of fabrics, patterns and haberdashery. Whilst we didn't have a huge crowd attending, there were certainly some very happy buyers leaving with some new projects to get stuck into.

The small group of members who weren't on holiday, sick, injured or attending appointments enjoyed a lovely spread of delicious soups, and sweet treats.

Just a few ladies bought items for show and tell and we also had some photos sent in from member Rosanne from Queensland. She has been busy working through her scraps and wanted to share the flimsy, prior to getting them put together and quilted.

Roseanne's very bright left over binding quilt... number 1! What a good idea to use up all those strips we have left over from previous projects.

It has a small but stunning fabric palette.

Tricia with a really fun applique quilt for her niece who drew these images when she was 10 years old. What a cool idea to give back her artwork in a quilt.

With of course some interesting quilting to suit the applique blocks.

Speaking of vintage... Francene! Well actually Francene's 10 years in the making pineapple quilt.

Also a good reminder of how even plain fabrics can have a huge visual impact.

Swirly quilting is a nice foil to the very pointy pineapple blocks

Di has been busy again whipping up some more baby quilts for the neonatal unit.

When less is more. (one simple large block rather than lots of fussy small ones)

Very simple quilting helps bring it to life.

In this one Di used some gorgeous easy on the eye pastels.

Another quite simple quilt design but adds such enormous visual appeal.

Show & Tell and Barossa Area Fundraisers for Cancer visit June 2024

 

June already. Wow hard to believe we are half way through the year.

We didn't have too many ladies showing their finished quilts... but we did have plenty of quilts to look at thanks to Di with all her charity baby quilts for hospitals.

What a huge effort and probably has barely put a dent in the scrap pile.

We also received a visit from the ladies from Barossa Area Fundraisers for Cancer (BAFFC) thanking us for our previous donations, accepting a few more quilts, including a couple for kiddies and giving an explanation of how they started, what they do and how they support people going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Quite an amazing group of ladies providing such beautiful support to those in need in the Barossa region.

Chris B with her vintage style kit quilt. Several ladies have this one on the go. Can't wait to see them finished too. This is just beautiful and with so much detail in the embellishments.

Notice the embellishments: beads in the lolly jars and tiny cake buttons. Soo cute.
