Show and Tell 15 August 2023

 August 2023 Show and Tell

Well another great showing of different quilt styles.

Who doesn't love a really complex patchwork quilt, but truly some of the less complicated patterns can produce a lovely piece.

And who doesn't love an art or memory quilt.

Enjoy these great pieces.

The first of several charity completed by Sue Medlow since last month. The lady has been busy!!

This one using fabrics from our fabric donation cupboard

This is the first quilt of several made using fabrics donated by Irene and Steve who Sue knows through their joint volunteer roles with Meals on Wheels. They very generously donated lots of fabrics and we expect to see many more quilts to come in that use them.

The florals in this were donated and Sue added the brown sashing from her stash.

Another one using donated fabrics with orange from Sue's stash

This quilt was pieced using the leftover fabrics that her daughter used to make scrunchies.
The green sashing really gives it a zing. Great quilt, simple and cheery.

The backing fabric.

Another pretty and simple piece from donated fabrics

..and one more from Sue using fabrics from the cupboard.

This really fun memory quilt made by Sue Barnett.
It tells the story of when she lived in Victor Harbor. It represents home, animals, garden, beach houses, bathing beauties and sea life.

Love this sassy gal!

Another beach beauty

The first of a couple of quilts put together by Judy from donated fabrics.

This pretty quilt has suffolk puffs and embroidered stems in the corners for a bit of interest

Judy has done a great job taking the most simple of blocks in rail fence and creating a pattern by careful placement of each of the blocks according to their colour. Looks great on point too.

Embroidered stem and leaves and suffolk puff flower detail.

And here again is the simple rail fence block placed differently to create an entirely different look. The bright fabrics may also have something to do with that.

Great work Judy.

Jills lovely almost monochromatic quilt.

Very dramatic looking with the black sashing and borders

Lovely quilting detail by Trish

Sue Crowhurst with a Japanese fabric quilt using leftover fabrics from another project from 2019.

Not a complex pattern, this one lets the beautiful fabrics do the talking

The quilting pattern gives a nod to foliage. I cant decide whether I see wisteria or ginko leaf!.

And of course the very last left over panels made a stunning statement on the back

Chris Adley with her see through bag vey useful for attending events where you have to show all the contents of your bags.

Cute butterfly detail on the pocket flap

Joys work in progress. She is looking for red, maroon and pale cream fabrics to complete a flying geese border. Can't wait to see this one finished.
