What a wonderful day we had on Saturday 11th March visiting Widebacks at Seaford, Inman Valley Quilt Exhibition and Penny Lane Quilt shop at Victor Harbor.
Lots of laughs, lots of purchases and lots of money spent. Well spent I say!!
Photos are in order of our stops.
Not photographed but stunning, is much of the diverse scenery we traversed. We are truly blessed here in Adelaide that in just a few hours we can go from our glorious hills to breathtaking ocean scenery and back again.
I managed to photograph a lot of the quits on display, but not all and they are in no particular order here. There was a great array of different styles on show highlighting how Quilting isn't just about traditional patchwork any more, with many beautiful quilts really falling into textile art category. Some truly beautiful and creative pieces. It's always a learning experience to get up close and personal to so many different quilts and marvel at the creativity and workmanship of fellow quilters.
There are 60 odd photos here, so grab a coffee and enjoy!
Widebacks: First stop.
Brenda very generously offered a lovely and expensive fabric pack to be drawn for every $100 spent, so some busy shoppers had multiple chances to win!
Brenda giving a run down of where to find what to the crowd.
Note some of the quilts hanging around the shop.
The grand prize on display. And no Barb, cozying up with the lady holding the prize and wishing it out of her hands didn't give you any better chance than the rest of us!!
Winners are grinners. A very happy Gaile presented with the coveted raffle prize.
One of the many beautiful quilts hanging at Widebacks. This quilt is huge!
On to the Inman Valley Quilt Exhibition. Stop two......
Whilst the exhibition quilts are not displayed in any particular order here, I just had to put this Title first!!
....and the amazing quilt that it is attached too.
Thought Bubbles was a very popular quilt pattern at the exhibition, and also on the purchase list at Pennys. It is going to be fantastic to see how all the girls that purchased the pattern interpret it.
This quilt was titled My take on Dear Jane. Batik fabrics were used giving such a different look. Lots of work in this one.
I love blue wrens so always take multiple photos whenever I see them in quilts.
This was quite an interesting quilts. Sort of I Spy but presented as a board game. So clever.
Just loved this cheeky guy.
I did say I loved blue wrens so here are some more pics.
... Did I mention I also love my labradors. I imagine these are the quilt makers own dog silhouettes. This was also a very large quilt. Very!
Want to make a neutral quilt. How's this beauty for inspiration!
Many quilts came with a story. This one was about a ladies journey including living at Victor Harbor.
Mind bending this one.
One of several Bedford Quilts on display.
Stunning hand applique.
Just the most beautiful quilt and so many pieces.
Another mind bending, or at least eye bending quilt. This has hundreds and hundreds of small pieces. Quite and amazing quilt.
Square in a square in a square.... in a square quilt.
A William Morris style fabric quilt designed by Michelle Hill. No more needs to be said!
This quilt was from the imagination of the maker. Amazing.
Stop three: Penny Lane.
With another bus load of quilters from Adelaide landing about the same time as us, it was standing room only.
So many goodies in this little shop!
Note the Thought Bubble quilt in the background.
One of the lovely quilts hanging in the back workshop room. It was made using denim jean pockets. There were a few photos taken of this one.... lets hope someone takes the idea and makes something.
Annette and Penny drawing names for the spend $20 and get a ticket raffle.
