Show and Tell/Christmas break up 14th December 2022

Show and Tell and Christmas break up December 2022

Joy's Charity Quilt (another one!) There is a bit of a story behind this one and it involves the Editor of this months blog; Helen

The blocks were donated by me. They were left over from a stack of blocks I was given from another group of Quilting friends for my 50th birthday.... let's just say quite a few years ago, like maybe a decade but who's counting! Joy found a suitable fabric she had ample of for the sashings but one of the challenges in deciding on a layout is that there was one block that was just a lot stronger in colour than the others.

After a bit of fiddling, Joy decided to put it on point in the centre. Just as she was happy with it (well reasonably happy) I gave her a small piece of fabric that featured in several of the blocks. After a bit more fiddling, Joy used it to border the central block. Wow, what a transformation that was. The quilt is now off for quilting.

What a great job Joy. I am thrilled that a random few blocks that I had no vision for have made such a lovely quilt thanks to you. We look forward to seeing this finished soon!!

Sue Medlow's lovely bright quilt made for her niece's baby girl.

Kerry Philcox and her crumb quilt in flannels. What an amazing array of fabrics. If you have ever wondered what to do with your little scaps, well there you go!

Chris Adley with her stunning watercolour. Chris is relatively new to watercolour painting but has taken to it like a duck to... well... water!

This lovely painting took out first prize in a competition. The theme was "Reflections" so thinking outside the square looking for something other than the usual water reflection, Chris chose the high gloss of a car as her reflection. There is amazing detail in this very clever painting. Congratulations Chris!

Another of Chris' paintings. A cute possum.

Gaile Jackson and her cute handbag made from an old pair of jeans that shrunk. Very clever.

Every bag needs a pocket or two right!!

Glenda Parkinson with her beautiful Christmas centrepiece. Glenda has been working on this intricate embroidery and needle turn piece for months. What a great little piece.

Look at that smile. It's finally finished! Well done Glenda.

Chris Alexander with her sweet embroidered birds.

Simply stunning work Chris.

Our Kris Kringle gift table. What a lovely lot of gifts were given and received.

Merry Christmas everyone. Seasons blessings to you and your loved ones.
